Competencies and Indicators

  • Area 6. Facilitating learners' digital competence. Level B1
    • 6.1. Information and media literacy. 
      • 6.1.B1.1 Integrates into their teaching practice learning situations in which students must develop different strategies for searching, evaluating, selecting, and organizing information and data.
      • 6.1.B1.2 Selects, from the technologies provided by the Educational Institution (E.I.) or by the institution's owners, the most suitable ones for students to develop their competence in data and information processing.
    • 6.4 Responsible use. 
      • 6.4.B1.1 Integrates into teaching and learning processes situations aimed at helping students develop the knowledge, habits, and values necessary for the safe, responsible, critical, healthy, and sustainable use of digital technologies.
      • 6.4.B1.2 Teaches students to technically implement the cybersecurity protocol established in the institution's digital plan in all actions where digital technologies are used and provides guidelines to transfer these measures to other areas.
    • 6.5 Problem solving.
      • 6.5.B1.3 Selects, from the digital technologies provided by the Educational Institution (E.I.) or by the institution's owners, those most suitable for students, depending on their age and maturity level, to develop their competence in solving technical problems that may arise.
  • Area 5. Student Empowerment. Level B1
    • 5.1 Accessibility and inclusion
      • 5.1.B1.1 Independently uses the accessibility options of the school’s technology, selecting those most appropriate for students.
    • 5.3 Active student engagement in their own learning
      • 5.3.B1.2 Implements pedagogical strategies based on the usability and accessibility conditions of the school’s digital technologies, enabling students to progressively use them autonomously in different learning processes.

Objectives

  • Understand the main threats and risks associated with digital security and health in the educational context.
  • Learn how to use security and protection tools and techniques to prevent unauthorized access to computer systems and user accounts, and to avoid the spread of viruses and malicious software.
  • Understand the importance of privacy and the protection of personal data in the context of digital education, and be familiar with the laws and regulations that govern this matter.
  • Develop skills to promote the safe and responsible use of technologies in the educational environment, and to educate students in digital security practices.
  • Be aware of the tools and resources available for managing digital security and health in the educational environment, and learn how to use them effectively.
  • Reflect on ethics and values in the use of technology in education, and promote responsible and sustainable use of digital technologies.

Contents

  • Basic concepts of digital security and health: cybersecurity, privacy, personal data protection, among others.
  • Computer security measures: secure passwords, software updates, use of encryption, firewall configuration, etc.
  • Responsible use of technologies: digital identity, digital etiquette, security on social networks, among others.
  • Ethics and values in the use of technology in education: reflection on the social and environmental impacts of digital technologies, education for digital sustainability, and social responsibility.
